Ask Active Mobility!
1. How do I medically qualify for a Powerchair or Scooter ?
Only your Doctor can medically qualify you for a powerchair or scooter. There are many types of conditions, which may qualify you for truly needing powered mobility. Typically the individual who qualifies for powered mobility, suffers from a condition which severely limits their ability to safely move around their home. If you have ever found yourself in this circumstance, please give us a call!we will gladly start the qualification process for, and you’ll see just how easy it can be!
2. What is the difference between a Powerchair and a Scooter ?
A Powerchair is designed for everyday use inside and outside of your home. It has a much smaller turning radius and can be used in most homes without having to move items around inside your home. It is easier to maneuver around your furniture and much easier to go through doorways and down hallways. A Scooter is designed more for outdoor use and requires more upper-body function and balance for steering.
3. Will Medicare pay for a Powerchair or Scooter?
If you medically qualify, Medicare may pay 80% of the charges for a Powerchair and your secondary insurance may cover the other 20%. It is usually more difficult to medically qualify for a Scooter.
